Why Choose Vegan and Plant-Based Nutrition?

Adopting a vegan or plant-based diet can offer numerous health benefits, including:

  • Improved heart health

Vegan and plant-based diets are rich in fibre, antioxidants, and beneficial plant compounds that can help reduce the risk of heart disease. By eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, and legumes, you can improve your cardiovascular health significantly.

  • Weight management

Many people find it easier to maintain a healthy weight on a vegan or plant-based diet due to its emphasis on whole foods and lower calorie density. Plant-based diets often contain fewer calories per bite, making it easier to eat satisfying portions while still managing your weight.

  • Enhanced digestion

A diet high in fruits, vegetables, and legumes supports a healthy gut microbiome and can improve digestion. The fibre content in plant-based foods aids in regular bowel movements and overall digestive health.

  • Lowered risk of chronic diseases

Studies have shown that vegan and plant-based diets can reduce the risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, and hypertension. The anti-inflammatory properties of many plant foods contribute to these benefits.

  • Environmental impact

Choosing a plant-based lifestyle is also a powerful way to reduce your environmental footprint. It is a compassionate choice that supports sustainable agriculture and animal welfare. By reducing your consumption of animal products, you are contributing to less deforestation, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and a decrease in water usage.

As a Nutritionist, my goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to thrive on a vegan or plant-based diet. Here is how I can help:

What To Expect When You See a Nutritionist

During our consultations, we will dive deep into your unique circumstances and goals. By assessing your current diet, lifestyle, and medical history, I will develop a tailored nutrition plan specifically designed to address your needs. Whether you are looking to lose weight, improve your digestion, manage a medical condition, or simply adopt a healthier lifestyle, I will provide you with the tools and knowledge to succeed.

How does the consultation work?

Initial Consultation and Nutrition Plan

The initial consultation includes:

  • A complete health, lifestyle and dietary analysis. Upon booking your consultation, we will ask you to fill out an online Health Questionnaire. Your online Nutritionist will use the questionnaire as a base for further investigation of your medical history, medications, diet and lifestyle. Your Nutritionist will use this information to put together a personalised nutrition plan.
  • Analysis of any recent blood test results you may have (during the appointment).
  • An explanation of my understanding of your health concerns
  • Discussion of foods that may be contributing to your symptoms
  • Suggestions of foods that may help alleviate your symptoms
  • Personalised nutrition plan (emailed to you within 7 business days)
  • Personalised supplement recommendations (if needed)
  • Personalised herb recommendations (if needed)
  • Lifestyle recommendations (if needed)
  • Recommendations for laboratory tests (if needed)

When it comes to your health, Milena Kaler’s motto is “testing – not guessing”. During your initial consultation, your Nutritionist will assess if there may be any requirement for you to have further laboratory testing done to provide scientific evidence about your health and get a better understanding of your whole health picture. Milena uses tests that can be done free of charge via your GP, and advanced functional laboratory testing via established private laboratories (the same laboratories used by private GPs).

Follow up Consultations

Follow Up consultation includes:

  • Review and explanation of any test results
  • Review of your progress
  • Updated nutrition plan
  • Updated supplement and lifestyle recommendations
  • Review of your symptoms
  • Addressing any new symptoms
  • Recommendations for further laboratory tests (if needed)

Follow up consultations are an opportunity to ask any questions that are related to your ongoing programme and discuss any changes that you are experiencing. They are very important to keep you motivated and on track.

Most patients benefit from at least one follow up consultation. For complex health issues and weight loss clients, it may be necessary to work together for a longer period of time. Follow up appointments are scheduled every 2-4 weeks.

Why work with me?

EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE

I have years of experience and a deep understanding of vegan and plant-based nutrition. My approach is evidence-based, ensuring that you receive the most up-to-date and scientifically sound advice. I continuously update my knowledge through ongoing education and staying current with the latest research in nutrition.

 SUPPORT AND MOTIVATION

Transitioning to a vegan or plant-based diet can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. Regular follow-up consultations and progress assessments ensure you are always moving forward.

HOLISTIC APPROACH

As a holistic Nutritionist, I dig deeper, and I explore all aspects of your health, on a physiological, physical, and mental/emotional level, to connect the dots between your symptoms and the underlying causes of your health or weight loss issues, recognizing that every person requires a personalised approach to health.

My holistic approach helps you to get to the root cause of your health issues and address the underlying causes instead of simply masking the symptoms. While there is nothing wrong with addressing the symptoms, my aim is to minimise the factors that contributed to the presence of symptoms in the first place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between vegan and plant-based diets?

A vegan diet eliminates all animal products, including meat, dairy, eggs, and honey. A plant-based diet focuses on whole, minimally processed plant foods but may not be entirely vegan. It is possible to follow a plant-based diet while occasionally eating animal products.

Will I get enough protein on a vegan diet?

Yes! There are plenty of plant-based protein sources, including beans, lentils, tofu, tempeh, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. I will ensure your nutrition plan includes a variety of these sources to meet your protein needs.

Can a vegan diet provide all necessary nutrients?

With careful planning, a vegan diet can provide all the essential nutrients. I focus on key nutrients such as B12, iron, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin D to ensure your diet is well-balanced. Supplements can also be recommended if needed.
