HOW TO BUILD THE PERFECT SALAD

Salads can be a great side dish or starter to a meal, but with the right ingredients they can also make a complete meal. Salads don’t have to boring, and healthy salads are a lot easier to create than they look. If you’ve got 20 minutes, you can easily make a filling salad anytime with my salad formula.

Here is how to build the perfect salad:

BUILT YOUR BASE: spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, bok choy, rocket salad, collards, cabbage

ADD COLOUR:  beets, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, asparagus, avocado, celery, cucumber, courgette, onion. tomatoes, radish, spring onions

ADD PROTEIN: chicken, turkey, beef, fish, chickpeas, lentils, nuts, seeds (hemp, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower)

ADD CARBS: sweet potatoes, quinoa, buckwheat

ADD FRUIT (OPTIONAL): apples, pears, oranges, strawberries, melon, unsweetened coconut flakes, dried unsweetened cranberries, pomegranate seeds

ADD HERBS AND SPICES: basil, coriander, ginger, mint, parsley

ADD DRESSING: Mix 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon lemon juice or balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to taste.
